Hi Guy,

Well I'm not fan of what I saw on the Ari's web site.
And I don't see any point with him and "Tain"...

Just my opinion, he's of course a good drummer/musician, but he does nothing on me.

The guy can play.... But I wouldn't suggest picking up any technique tips from him!

I have to agree with Warunki...I'm not overly impressed by him,... doesn't make my list of greats...

man, its nice to see some ideas that are new and creative. I hear Han Benink and Tony Williams, but i see Mr. MGoo meets Woody Harrelson. A nice fresh break from the mechanistic onslought of european uber-drummers! Achtung-bitch.

I've seen Ari live and it's truly an experience. He uses metric modulation and odd groupings so seamlessly to add tension and intensity in the music. Even though he looks really stiff and mechanical when he's playing, you'd never be able to tell from the sound and fluidity he gets.

Well, he's definitely not going to win the award for prettiest technique. Yikes! [img]confused.gif[/img]

He looks awful tense and his movements seem very exaggerated, it's almost cartoonish. Having said that, his sound is nice and it doesn't sound stiff.

Wow Ari is pretty spooky. Keith Carlock's technique also disturbs me, the Oz Noy Trio videos on his site genuinely creep me out. http://www.keithcarlock.com/video.htm

Both these guys techniques are so against the grain of what I've be taught they just baffle me. I wonder how did these fellas come to this strange approach? I can't explain it but I'm glad these guys play the way they do.
